International School of Busan (Korea)

Dear Search Associates Colleagues,

On behalf of the International School of Busan (ISB), Busan, South Korea Search Committee, I am pleased to announce that Dr. Kelly Kramer has been appointed as the permanent Head of School and will continue leading ISB for a further two academic years, through July 2029.

Dr. Kramer is currently serving as the Interim Head of School at the International School of Busan. She previously served three years as the Head of School at the International School of Aruba. In her previous leadership roles, Dr. Kramer served as the Director of School at the International School of Dongguan, China from 2018 – 2023. From 2013 – 2018, she was the Superintendent at Colegio Internacional de Caracas, Venezuela. During her tenure at the aforementioned institution, she served as a Board Member for the Association of American School in South America from 2015 – 2018.

Dr. Kramer holds an Ed.D. from Edgewood University – Madison, Wisconsin, an MS in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis from UW-Madison, an MS in Interdisciplinary Studies, from the State University of New York – Buffalo, and a BS in Education from UW – Whitewater, Whitewater, Wisconsin.

The ISB Board of Governors selected Dr. Kramer from a highly experienced and qualified group of candidates based on her considerable past leadership experience in International Educational Administration. Mr. Paul Edwards, Chairperson of the ISB Board of Governors shared the following about Dr. Kramer’s candidacy and appointment:

"Kelly went through the same selection process as every other candidate. We considered a strong international field, and she stood out for her understanding of ISB and our priorities, and for her clear vision for the school. The Board was unanimous in choosing her.

I’m very pleased that Kelly will continue to lead ISB. She has earned this opportunity through her leadership and commitment to our community. I’m confident in her and look forward to working with her. On behalf of the Board, congratulations, Kelly."

Dr. Kramer looks forward to continuing as the Permanent Head of School at ISB, Busan, South Korea. In response to her appointment, Dr. Kramer shared the following:

"I am truly honored and humbled to have been selected by the Board of Governors to serve as the permanent Head of School at the International School of Busan. I am grateful for the confidence they have placed in me and appreciate the thoughtful and thorough search process that led to this appointment.

During my first month at ISB, I have been inspired by the warmth of the community, the dedication and professionalism of our faculty and staff, the commitment of our parents and Board, and, most importantly, the incredible students we have the privilege of serving. I look forward to continuing to work alongside the entire ISB community as we build on the school's many strengths, further strengthen our IB programmes, and provide an exceptional learning experience that prepares every student to thrive in an ever-changing world."
